I would rather stay on a rocky shoreline on the lagoon because you don’t have people walking in front of your house. It’s totally private.
I suppose there are negatives and positives to each choice of Akumal properties for rent. The reason why you might look into an Akumal hotel room is because private villas may be too expensive. But the reason why a private Akumal villa might be a good idea is that you would have a private beach as well as a private pool.
And cook service. A lot of the houses come with cook service, you can have someone come in the kitchen and cook for you.
