Once they’ve decided what they’ve want, how does one make a decision among the best Akumal villas rentals?

Another thing to consider is do I need a rent car with this villa? Are there places within walking distance to go… restaurants, shops, dive shops. A lot of places you have to have a rent car.

For example, you can find a nice villa in South Akumal. But you can’t catch transportation there…

Not unless you are prepared to walk out to the highway, and that’s a long walk.

Your not going to get a cab easily. Whereas if you are in Akumal, you can walk everywhere and get to a cab.

There’s a grocery store there. There are shops. There are dive shops. There are all kinds of activities right in Akumal. Your kids can walk around, go where they want to go. There are bars there, restaurants. Certainly location is very important when you are considering an Akumal property for rent.

Now you mentioned the type of property you want to stay in, the type of beach you might want to have, being aware that if you are staying in a villa in South Akumal, you might need a rent car. Now regarding Akumal villas rentals, what about location as far as the different areas of Akumal?

Akumal Aventuras. Again Akumal Aventuras, there’s no conveniences there. So you would need to have a rent car if you’re staying in Akumal Aventuras. Great beach, great swimming beach. Not all that great for snorkeling. Half Moon Bay would be better for snorkeling or the lagoon (Yalku lagoon). But Akumal Aventuras has a great beach.

That’s the most southern part of greater Akumal. What about a little more north in South Akumal?

South Akumal’s beach is a little rocky. It’s not the best swimming beach but there is good snorkeling out there. Pretty beach.

A little more secluded out there.

It’s a residential community. It’s private, so more secluded. You don’t have tourists walking on that beach unless they are renting the houses there.

Now what about Akumal villas rentals a little bit north to Jade beach?

No conveniences there, so you will need a rent car. Nice bay, good snorkeling. Beach is a little rocky but real nice houses there. Quiet, because there are no stores, no shops, no restaurants.

And there are no cabs that can pick you up there?

Some of the Akumal villas rentals have phones and you can call a cab company to come get you. But generally no. If you are going to be in that area, I would have a rent car. The freedom of a rent car, so if you want to just run to the store. Now the town of Akumal is about a 15 minute walk along the beach, so you can walk into Akumal proper where all the restaurants and shops are. You can walk from Jade Bay.
