Akumal Tip #030 - This little light of mine

As mentioned in our big packing tip, be sure to bring a flashlight to Akumal, especially if you do not plan to rent a car. The road up North Akumal along Half Moon Bay is not lit. You will want to use your flashlight to alert any traffic that may be barreling down the road after a night of drinking at La Buena Vida.

The North Akumal road is a narrow local road and has many topes (speed bumps). There is no real danger here of a major car collision, but a pedestrian should protect himself with a little light he can shine at an oncoming vehicle to alert the driver.

Akumal Tip #013 - Don’t drink the water (oldest tip in the book)

We all know by now not to drink the water in Mexico, but do not brush your teeth or brew your coffee with it either. Use only purified, bottled water when ingesting. Tap water is fine for washing dishes and bathing, but try to remember not to swallow water in the shower!
