1. The number one packing tip for the tropics is for protecting your skin.
   • Waterproof SPF 30 sunscreen,
   • sunglasses and
   • a hat.

   The Mexican sun is intense and you don’t want to ruin your vacation by getting a sunburn.

2. Insect repellent is imperative. Remember, you are visiting the jungle.

Akumal Snorkeling pictures

Akumal is on the shores of two bays - Half Moon Bay and Akumal Bay. Both are teaming with sea life, so don’t forget your underwater camera when you are packing. The Caribbean’s transparent waters have many treasures you will want to capture on film or digitally.

For a few hundred dollars you can get a nice digital underwater camera that is completely waterproof, has a large video screen, and takes great pictures. Since it is digital, you can quickly and easily upload your photos to your computer. If budget is a concern, you can get a cheap underwater camera that is preloaded with film for as low as $6.00 to $20.00.
