If you are planning to rent a car for your vacation and drive yourself around the Riviera Maya and Akumal Mexico, bring a road map of Mexico with you.
In the United States, visit your local AAA office and they will provide you a Mexico map for free, or more specifically a Riviera Maya map, and will even highlight the easy route you will take from the Cancun airport to Akumal.
