Akumal Tip #009 - Taxi cab ride from Cancun

If you don’t want to take our suggestion of renting a car for your Riviera Maya vacation in Akumal — or if you don’t want to brave the drive on Highway 307 — then you will need to take a taxi from the Cancun airport to get to your destination of Akumal, about an hour to an hour-and-a-half south between Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
If you are taking a taxi from the airport to Akumal, be aware that the price could be anywhere from $75-$120 for the trip. Ask the price first and then negotiate.
For the budget consious, request to share a cab with other travelers. They don’t have to be headed to Akumal — if they are headed south to Playa del Carmen or Tulum, you could still split the cost of a cab.

I arranged for a taxi from Cancun Shuttle before coming to mexico. I paid with Paypal, they got the funds, but they would not honor the receipt or confirmation number. I filed a complaint with Paypal after the trip and got my money back. I do not recommend the services of Cancun Shuttle company. Ask for recommendations from the hotel where you are staying.
